Pacherhof Kerner "Valle Isarco"

Trentino-Alto Adige

Characteristics: Straw-yellow with hints of green, delicate bouquet, dry and full flavour with overtones of nutmeg.

Kerner is a grape clone created in the late sixties by cross-breeding a white grape and a red one: Riesling and Schiava (Trollinger in German). The name given to the grape rather than originating from its creator or a particular region, has a more vernacular origin: herr Kerner was a jolly German composer of drinking songs in the 19th century! Pacherhof is a small biodinamic producer nestled in the Alps, just a stone's throw away from the Austrian border; the people of Alto Adige still sing happy drinking songs, in Italian, but with a heavy German accent...
